ARTISTS INVITED TO BE PART OF HISTORY— ORIGINAL DESIGN CONTEST ANNOUNCED FOR SOLVANG CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION LOGO
~ Submit Artwork Celebrating 100 Years of Solvang’s Heritage (1911-2011)

Solvang, California, USA—The Solvang Centennial Committee announced the launch of a logo design contest for the exciting celebration of Solvang’s centennial year taking place in 2011. Artists are invited to compete for this prestigious honor and $1,000 cash prize award for their winning design. The selected official Centennial logo will be featured prominently in all print advertising, media, merchandizing and more during the year-long historical celebration.

According to Centennial Committee  “The logo contest and winning entry will set the stage for our biggest celebration ever. It is essential that the selected design reflect Solvang’s unique cultural and historical fabric in order to truly represent 100 years of significant contributions.”

The five Centennial Logo Selection Judges are Esther Jacobsen Bates, Elverhoj Museum of History & Art; Curt Cragg, Santa Ynez Valley Historical Society; Atto Alexander, Signs by Atto; Rick Rantz, Alan Hancock College Extended Campus; and John Martino, Chumash Casino Resort.

Graphic designers, artists and ART students are all encouraged to offer proposals for an original work of art which must include the words ‘Solvang Centennial’ and the dates ‘1911-2011.’ All entries must be received by April 30, 2009. The Centennial Logo Selection Committee anticipates announcing its decision in a ceremony in early June 2009.
